Gas Analyzer Docking Stations

Bridge Exhaust Gas Analyzer Docking Station

P/N 00925 - Mark I Docking Station for Model 9004/9005

At last you do not have to decide between the convenience and simplicity of a hand-held gas analyzer and the robustness and utility of a conventional bench-top portable unit. Bridge has designed a ‘Docking Station’ as an accessory for the Model 9004 and Model 9005 gas analyzer that converts the hand-held gas analyzer into a portable gas analyzer. This accessory may be used as a convenient way to hold the gas analyzer between hand-held use, or may be used as an accessory operating station– as it has a full 8 hours of supplementary battery power built in, and the gas sampling line, power and computer port are connected from the installed gas analyzer to the back of the unit.

This docking station is compact and light– total weight with the analyzer installed is less than 12 Lbs. It is intended as a support accessory for those who would like a place to put the analyzer during tailpipe exhaust testing, or as a convenient carrier for the analyzer. The gas analyzer clips into the Docking Station by means of a ‘cleat’ installed on the gas analyzer handle – so the gas analyzer can be readily installed or removed from the docking station at will.

The docking station effectively converts the hand-held analyzer into a bench-top analyzer, as the use of the standard analyzer power pack plugged into the back of the Docking Station allows all-day operation from mains AC power, and the back panel of the docking station contains the gas inlet port and computer connector following bench-top gas analyzer convention.

The principle features and benefits of the docking station are:

Adding the Battery-Powered Printer (P/N 106430) to the Docking Station:

The standalone battery powered printer (P/N 106430) accessory may be conveniently added to the Docking Station by means of a printer tray which is easily connected to the Docking Station top cover by pre-positioned attachment locations.  This printer tray allows the printer to be slid into position on the top cover, and clicked into place.  The printer cable is then run to the PC port at the back of the Docking Station, and the entire system is converted into a bench-top portable with printer

This configuration provides a convenient, but still portable, system for comprehensive gas analysis with hardcopy recording capability. In this configuration, the system still remains light and compact – the printer fits under the existing Docking Station handle, and the total weight including the printer and analyzer is less than 13.5 Lbs.

Note the large foam-covered handle located at the balance point of the complete system, and which allows the complete system to be easily moved from location to location.

Both the gas analyzer and the printer may be removed from the Docking Station at any time and operated as standalone units, as each has its own built-in batteries

Turning a Hand-held Analyzer into a full Bench-Top Portable – the Mark II Docking Station with Continuous-Duty Pneumatics System, Hose, and Probe

The Docking Station may also be configured with a heavy-duty continuous sampling system to provide operation of the unit in conventional bench-top mode as a continuously powered-up unit. The Docking Station Accessory Pneumatics Module replaces the Mark I back panel with a panel containing a water trap/filter, and water pump system that continuously filters and eliminates condensate from the incoming gas sample.

This module comes complete with its own conventional sample hose and probe shown below – providing complete bench-top gas analyzer capabilities.

(Gas Analyzer and Printer not Included)

The addition of a heavy duty pneumatics system converts the Mark I Docking Station into a complete conventional bench-top portable designed for continuous use – the Mark II Docking Station.

The water trap and primary filter are installed on the back of the Docking Station, and an additional water pump are added to the Mark I unit, eliminating their need at the probe. The Mark II Docking Station configuration provides a simplified probe/hose system that follows conventional bench-top analyzer , and may be continuously powered from the standard analyzer power pack for heavy duty continuous use.

The Mark II Docking station configured with printer is the highest-level system available, and offers the user a complete bench-top analyzer with printer system – yet maintains its portability and un-tethered utility, as simply unplugging the mains-mounted power pack from the back of the Docking Station allows the unit to be transported to any location in the workshop – and the on-board batteries in the Docking Station continue to power the unit as a self-standing configuration for a full 8 hours.

This system is still compact and light. The total weight of Mark II unit with printer and analyzer is less than 15 Lbs.

The Docking Station concept provides gas analyzer utility and flexibility unheard-of in previous product configurations- and allows the user to upgrade his hand-held unit to provide service to any level he desires.

Field Upgradeability – add the features you want when you want them:

The Mark I configuration unit may be upgraded at any time to a Mark II system by the addition of the Docking Station Accessory Pneumatics Module.  In addition, either a Mark I system or a Mark II system can be configured to accept the printer by the installation of the printer tray.

Either upgrade requires the minimum of tools and reconnections – as the Mark I unit is pre-configured to accommodate these field upgrades with ease, and the pneumatics module is designed to be installed by replacing the Mark I back panel with a new assembly, as shown below.

Mark II Docking Station Pneumatics Module

The pneumatics module comes complete with the sample hose and probe shown earlier – and totally converts a Mark I Docking Station into a Mark II configuration. This module adds an additional 1 Lb. to the weight of the unit – making the total weight of Mark II unit with printer and analyzer less than 15 Lbs.
