GPX1500 Vial – Non-intrusive Headspace Gas Analyzer for Vials

The GPX1500 Vial represents a new approach to headspace oxygen gas inspection – fast, accurate, non-intrusive and non-destructive, in tubular vials.

The GPX1500 Vial is a very compact and easy-to-use instrument that accurately measures the headspace of pharmaceutical containers. It is designed to operate parameter free and reliably and accurately measure the headspace gas of vials in both pharmaceutical production and lab environments. Change over to a different format does not require the operator to change any settings. It is designed for the vial format range 2R to 100R. It is applicable for containers like tubular vials, ampoules, molded vials, clear glass or amber vials as well as plastic containers.

The system offers non-destructive at-line, storage or laboratory quality testing and leak detection allowing 100% inspection. The GPX1500 Vial edition allows quick, accurate and easy testing of pharmaceutical vials. The results of each test are presented immediately on the touch screen. The non-destructive measurement lets you return the samples to the production line with no waste. The technology offers oxygen degradation investigations as well as stability trends and end of shelf-lives studies.

How It Works

The GPX1500 Vial is easy-to-use. First the tubular vial is placed in the holder, then an infrared light beam is sent through the headspace of the vial, probing the gas inside the container, providing an instant result of the oxygen concentration. The laser light is completely eye safe and is also well enclosed in the GPX1500 Vial system. The measurement time is 2 seconds and the oxygen concentration is displayed directly on the touch screen. The system has a measurement range of 0 to 100% oxygen concentration. Due to the flexible design of the vial holder, the GPX1500 Vial is capable of measuring many different vial diameters and sizes.

Technology

The GPX1500 Vial optical gas instrument is based on 25 years of development and refinement of industrial laser gas sensors. The product utilizes Tunable Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy (TDLAS).

The laser sensor technology has been developed by Gasporox and Gasporox’s technology partner/supplier, and is used in many other industrial settings, including the petro-chemical, pharmaceutical, and energy industries.

The GASPOROX technology has already been used very successfully for more than 10 years for the testing of parenteral drugs. It is integrated and used in machines, systems and instruments to measure 100% of the headspace gas and is also widely used for lab testing of vials and ampoules in many parenteral packaging lines and labs.
